WHAT MSI DOES

Mystory Initiative runs a number of programs and activities. The main core areas include social support and protection, health improvement, economic strengthening and also carries out community outreaches and peer support.

These are some of the activities carried out.

Board meeting to discuss issues concerning organizational development. February 8 and March 21, 2019 at COMBRA boardroom in Kiwanga-Mukono. Seven Board members and one staff; (six women and two men.)
We held a sensitization meeting for sub-county leaders in Buikwe district, to enlighten them on issues of mental health/psych-social disabilities and to solicit for their support in the formation of peer support groups for people living with psycho-social disabilities in their respective areas. February 13, 2019 at Nkokonjeru Town Council Hall. We had 23 participants in total, that is, thirteen (13) sub-county leaders, 5 females and 8 males; two female board members, three staff, one female and two males.
We held a meeting of users of psychiatry and carers in Buikwe district. The purpose was to educate them about the importance of peer support and to mobilize them into forming such groups at community level. February 20, 2019 at Nkokonjeru Town Council Hall. We registered a total attendance of 56 participants, whereby 51 were users and carers, that is, 23 males and 28 females. In attendance were also two Board members, both females, three staff, one female and two males.
We recruited a new staff for the role of Program Assistant. We did send out an announcement and three people applied. The interview was conducted on April 4, 2019 at the MSI office. Three candidates applied and were interviewed, one male and two females. The male was emerged best and was taken up as our new Program Assistant.
We conducted three peer support group meetings. During the meetings members who turned up were further enlightened about the importance of such groups and encouraged to mobilize others to join and actively participate. March 2, 2019 in Kasubi-Matale. Five people, three females and two males.
March 5, 2019 at St. Edward Health Centre-Katwe. Seven people in total that is, two males and five females.
March 20, 2019 at Ngogwe Sub-county headquarters. Six people in total, that is, four males and two females.
